The Debate Club of Henry Baker College, Melukavu enhances the intrinsic art of speaking skills of the students. The club encourages students to participate in debates on a particular issue in a formal manner. Debates help the students to think quickly in different perspectives, and to present their thoughts in a good manner on socially relevant topics. These exposures mould the students into socially responsible citizens of tomorrow. The club successfully conducts healthy debates on various subjects throughout the year. Debate Club of our college is to expand the communication, presentation and coordination skills of the students. Nurturing the essential skill of teamwork and seeking the truth forms the basis of the club activities. Individual attention to all the members of the club is provided to inculcate the advance skills of debating. It develops the ability to think and learn logically and improves the listening skill of students. The club facilitates learning and research aptitude. Students develop self-confidence by overcoming the fears of public speaking. The activities of the club are organized to ensure the active participation of all the students in the college. The participants are not only trained, guided and supervised during the preparation but also receive constructive comments of the judges on their performances. Every debater gets an opportunity to speak infront of the students, teachers and expert judges of the college. The club explores critical thinking and stimulates the analytical, logical, and creative abilities of the students.
